AI literacy training for non-tech teams

Build confidence with AI (without the jargon)

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude are becoming part of everyday work. But most people have never been taught how to use them safely or effectively.

Narratology’s AI literacy workshops are designed for non-technical teams, including charities, professional services firms (like solicitors and accountants), and  anyone who isn’t involved in tech. We teach real skills in plain English — with a focus on practical use, personal privacy, and ethical awareness.

We also include content about responsible AI use, and are honest about the risks. We pay attention to issues about privacy, climate damage, bias and other real risks of this new technology.  We discuss ways to reduce the risks to yourselves and your community

What you'll learn

This isn’t a lecture or a sales pitch. It’s a hands-on, supportive session tailored to people who are just starting out with AI tools.

You’ll learn:

  • What generative AI is (and what it isn’t)

  • How to write clear, effective prompts for tools like ChatGPT

  • What makes AI give “weird” or wrong answers, and how to spot them

  • Real-life ways to use AI in professional services, education, admin, and communications

  • How to protect your personal data and privacy

Who it's for

This training is designed for:

  • Anyone interested in AI

  • Solicitors and accountants who want to learn about AI

  • Charities and outreach teams

Whether you’re a total beginner, or you’ve “had a go” with AI but don’t feel confident, this session is for you.

How it works

We deliver this training as a half-day workshop (around 3 hours), with time for discussion, examples and tailored exercises. You’ll get printed handouts to take away with you. There’ll be plenty of time to  practise prompts, ask questions and explore real-life use cases.

Where we work

We run workshops in:

  • Greater London
  • The Milton Keynes, Oxford, Cambridge triangle
  • Birmingham

We can also travel or train remotely for teams in other regions.

Outcomes of AI literacy training for non-tech people

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Understand what AI is and how it works
  • Understand how generative AI works and what it can (and can’t)
  • Know how to use tools like ChatGPT responsibly
  • Recognise misinformation and manage AI risks
  • Be able to write and improve prompts
  • Feel more confident and less anxious about using AI at work
